Tuedsday 20th March: Whitelines night time Rail Jam
As the darkness descended on the Laax Base Station, the floodlights came on to light up the specially prepared stair set feature. This was the battleground for the Whitelines rail jam. With only three girls tough enough to take on the challenge, the shred was on.
Becky Menday, Katie Omerod and a local girl were battling it out in the cold and the tricks were coming thick and fast. Becky was continually hitting the side hit street rail with a variety of steezy tricks, and this was enough to secure her with 2nd place and 20 Swiss franks for her effort.
Becky said ‘what an amazing experience, this was my first ever night time event and the atmosphere was so cool’.

Wednesday 21st March Dare2B Halfpipe Championships 2012
Today was the 3 star TTR Dare2B British Halfpipe Championships at Laax in Switzerland. The half pipe was running really well despite the blue skies and sunny conditions. 13 year old Becky Menday was one of six ladies to qualify through to the finals. After the two run, best run counts final she was really pleased to find that she had achieved the overall ladies podium in 3rd place and also taking the silver medal in the youth age category.
Becky said ‘I am really excited about this result, as I have had very little time to practice in the pipe this season’. Beckys winning run consisted off back to back 3′s high up the pipe and well off the coping, as well as a series of stylish grabs out of the pipe.

Friday 23rd March Protest Slopestyle British Championship 2012
The Protest Slopestyle British Championships was to be held on the brand new slopestyle park at Laax in Switzerland, and with plenty of snow available the features were set to be huge. It turned out to be the hottest day of the week and with this event attracting the largest turn out ladies so far, the action would be hotting up as well. Qualifications were under way early and with only two runs to show off their skills the field was soon narrowed down to six finalists.
Again Becky Menday and fellow GB Team ‘elite junior’ Katie Omerod went head to head throwing down their best tricks, but this time Katie was victorious with Becky taking a well deserved 2nd place on the overall podium. Becky’s run consisted of a smooth top section with a front 180 on to back 180 off on the first box feature, a super styled back 180 to indie grab on the top two kickers. Followed by a huge styled out method and laid back front 180 indie grab going deep into the landing on the last two 15m kickers. She then topped this off with a combination of board slides and nose grinds on the bottom rail features.
Becky said ‘This was an exciting slopestyle final and the competition was fierce, I was amazed to take the second place overall. I was so pleased to land all my tricks on my second and last run’.
